Frequently asked

Questions, answered.

Everything people ask about Spine — how it works, what it looks like, which streaming services are supported, and when you can get one.

What is Spine?
Spine is a wall-mounted album art display that makes your digital music collection visible. It connects to your streaming library and renders your albums as browsable CD spines — the covers you know by heart, always on your wall. Not a screen saver, not a photo frame. A permanent home for your music.
How does Spine work?
Build your collection using the companion app. Add any album ever released — search by artist or title, arrange your shelf however you like. If you're on Apple Music or Tidal, Spine pulls your library automatically. If you're on Spotify or another service, build it album by album — it's half the fun.
Does Spine work with Spotify?
Yes, but not automatically. Spotify doesn't allow third-party hardware to connect to its library — we'd love to offer it, but it's not up to us. You can build your Spotify collection manually using the companion app: search for any album, add it to your shelf, and it appears on your wall. It takes a few minutes and you get full control over how your collection is arranged.
Does Spine work with Apple Music?
Yes. Spine connects directly to Apple Music and pulls your full library automatically.
Does Spine work with Tidal?
Yes. Spine connects directly to Tidal and displays your full library. Tidal's high-resolution album art looks particularly good on the display.
Can I display vinyl, CDs, or other physical music on Spine?
Yes. Manual mode lets you add any album from any source — vinyl, CDs, cassettes, Bandcamp, downloads, anything. If it's been released as an album, you can put it on your Spine.
Is Spine a digital photo frame?
No. Digital photo frames cycle through random images on a timer. Spine is something different — it's a dedicated music display connected to your actual library. Your collection stays on the wall permanently, and you browse it by swiping through album spines. It's closer to a bookshelf than a photo frame.
What does Spine look like?
Spine is a bar-format display — long, narrow, and wall-mounted, shaped like a shelf rather than a screen. Brushed aluminum end caps, anti-glare glass that feels closer to paper than a screen, and a matte black border that disappears into the display. It's designed to feel like furniture, not a gadget.
How big is Spine?
The display is about 73cm wide and 17cm tall — roughly the width of a vinyl shelf, but slim enough to sit flush on any wall. It's a unique bar format, nothing like a TV or a monitor.
How does Spine mount on the wall?
Spine is wall-mounted with a simple bracket system, similar to mounting a floating shelf.
How much does Spine cost and when can I buy it?
Spine is launching on Kickstarter in late 2026. Sign up at spinemusic.com to get early access and launch pricing.
